Stress Reliever - Just Smile

A friend of mine shared this with me and it made me laugh out loud.  I thought it was super cute, so I thought I'd share.  If you are stressed and looking for ways to de-stress, try these stress busters.

_____________________________

1. At lunch time, sit in your parked car with sunglasses on and point a hair dryer at passing cars. See if they slow down.

2. Page yourself over the intercom. Don't disguise your voice !

3. Everytime someone asks you to do something, ask if they want fries with that.

4. Put decaf in the coffee maker for 3 weeks.  Once everyone has gotten over their caffeine addictions, switch to espresso.

5. In the memo field of all your checks, write "for marijuana."

6. Skip down the hall rather than walk and see how many looks you get.

7. Order a  diet water whenever you go out to eat... With a serious face.

8. Specify that your drive-thru orders are 'to go.'

9. Sing along at the Opera.

10. Five days in advance, tell your friends that you can't attend their party because you have a headache.

11. When the money comes out of the ATM, scream, "I Won! I Won!"

12. When leaving the zoo, start running towards the parking lot, yelling, "Run for your lives! They're loose!"

13 . Tell your children over dinner, "Due to the economy, We are going to have to let one of you go."

And the final way to keep a healthy level of sanity...

14. Pick up a box of condoms at the pharmacy, go to the front counter and ask where the fitting room is.

My New Love

Well, it's finally here.  Matt and I completed our bedroom!  Paint is up, chair rail is done, curtains are checked off the list, new bedroom furniture is in, our comforter set is all set up and we are DONE

I absolutely LOVE our new room.  It's so much prettier and cozier and I never want to leave.  I am so thrilled with how great it came out.  I have my loving husband to thank, as he did most of the hard work, but I had a blast with the retail therapy.  It was so fun!  Now I want to start redecorating every room.  It's funny, because when you move into a new house that was just built, you never realize how many different things you want to do with it to make it "yours."  I thought, when we first moved it, that it was going to be perfect the way it was and there weren't going to be any changes to be made.  Boy, was I wrong.  I am so sick of tan walls!  Luckily, we are slowly making the transformations.  We've been in our house for almost a year and a half.  I never would have thought how slooooooow moving the process was going to be to get everything put together.  It's definitely a blast to make the progress and totally worth it with the end result.

Without further adue, here is our NEW and IMPROVED master bedroom, all completed!!

What do you think?  Isn't it perfect?  I love it!  My favorite part is the huge full length mirror.  I went to IKEA yesterday with 2 friends and we had such a great time!  We all bought some great things and I really can't wait to go back - soon.  Hopefully, my best friend, Kristen, isn't on restriction and her hubby lets her go shopping with us again.

Looking Back

I was just looking at my old posts, from August.  As much as I didn't think I was in a sad, somber place - I was.  I know that it's totally acceptable given what Matt and I had been through, but now I am so much happier.  I am stronger and content with everything that has happened.  I have come to realize that everything happens for a reason, fate is out of our hands and what is meant to be, will be.  Everything in life is going to work out, just the way it's supposed to.  Like I say, over and over, everyday gets a little easier.  I am truly happy where I am and I am so ready for our future.

This blog is not only going to be about us trying to start to expand our family, but it will also be about day to day events that occur in the Duke household.  It should be an upbeat blog that will give you insight into our lives.  It will also help with out of town family to keep up with everything going on.

I'm excited for what the future holds!  Welcome to Our Love.  Our Life.  Our Story.

Back Again

Yes, I know I have been MIA and I apologize.  It's been very busy these last couple months.  Matt and I have been traveling every weekend all over the place for visitation with Jonathan, friends birthdays, weddings, baby showers, etc. We've been all over the place.  I will try harder to keep up with everything going on in our lives.  Promise!

As of right now, there aren't too many updates. My SIL, Julia, was in town from Kansas City.  She moved with her hubby since he was transferred there when he came back from Iraq.  They are newlyweds and have been out there for 6 months (seems a lot longer than that).  We had the whole family over and hosted a cookout so we could all see her.  It was great!  There was tons of food, family and fun!  No complaints - I didn't even mind the clean-up. but that was probably because my mom did most of it.  She's always the cleaner (no complaining on my part).

Matt totally surprised me on Friday and painted our bedroom.  I love paint!  It makes our house feel so much more homier.  He painted it a greyish blue color.  I'm not exactly sure the name of it, but it goes so perfect with our bedding and furniture.  Last night, I had pictures of us printed and he hung them.  Our bedroom is coming along so pretty!  Next task, a chair rail arounf the room and curtains.  That will make it!  I am so excited for the great finish.  I will post pictures soon of the progress.  Please excuse me for not having any "before" pictures.  I'm fired, I know.  Once completed, we'll have 2 rooms down (family and master) with 5 more to go (master bath, kitchen, 1/2 of upstairs guest bath, 2 guest rooms, 1/2 of Jonathan's room).  We've been in the house for over a year and we're STILL not settled.

11 more days and we are ARUBA BOUND!!!  I cannot wait!  This is going to be such a wonderful vacation and we are sooooo looking forward to it.  We are going with 2 other couples and I know that there won't be a dull moment.  These are very great friends of ours and we're looking forward to it.  I will be sure to update this with lots of pictures and stories.  As I know there will be a few - mark my words.

I'm about to leave the office and head home in this yucky weather we are having.  It's been in the 80's these past few days and now it's taken a 180...  Tonight is supposed to get down to 36 degrees and looking out my window, I believe it.  It's dark and rainy and Atlanta traffic is going to suck!
